Registered Shed Construction Business, $3.1m Revenue

A full-service shed, garage and outdoor living business with a builder's licence behind it, not a kit-shed retailer.

Most shed businesses sell a kit and leave the rest to the customer. This one designs the building, obtains the permit, pours the slab, erects the structure and handles the earthworks and retaining walls, all under a Registered Building Practitioner. It then sells the same customer a patio, verandah, carport, outdoor blinds, fencing, shutters or decking through its second brand, which holds the authorised dealership for a leading national outdoor living range.

Revenue has grown from $1.7M to $3.1M in two years. Construction is delivered through an established subcontractor network, so the business runs with a small core team and a light fixed-cost base. A customer-facing display centre on a main road and a separate works yard are held on two leases with options to 2030.

*Approximately $3.1M revenue in FY26, up 84% on FY24
*Normalised owner earnings of approximately $306K
*Two full-time staff plus the two working owners
*Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm, Saturday by appointment
*Display centre and works yard, combined rent $42,840 per annum
*Plant and equipment of approximately $300K available to purchase separately if wanted
*Vendors will provide a full handover and are open to a longer transition

The construction side of the business requires a building registration, so this suits a registered builder or tradesperson stepping up, a shed or steel building company wanting a regional footprint, or an outdoor living operator adding a construction arm.
