More Than One Way to Make Money: Businesses With Multiple Revenue Streams
When looking at a business for sale, the headline revenue figure only tells part of the story.
Where that revenue comes from can be just as interesting.
Some businesses rely largely on one core product or service, while others generate income across several areas. That could mean a hotel combining food, drinks and accommodation, a retailer offering ongoing servicing, or a fitness business earning from regular programs as well as parties and holiday activities.
Importantly, having a large product range, several locations or different types of customers doesn't necessarily mean a business has multiple revenue streams. The distinction is in how the business actually generates its income.
We took a look at businesses currently for sale across Australia where revenue is generated through different, often complementary, parts of the operation.

This South East Queensland operation brings four complementary businesses together under one roof: a specialty multicultural supermarket, restaurant, in-house butchery and sausage manufacturing operation.

There is no single formula for building multiple revenue streams into a business.
