Mike has a wide background in many types of business. His experiences in both private and corporate sector businesses has given him the grounding required to work effectively and successfully within a wide spectrum of businesses, products and services. He has gained the expertise to maximise business sales opportunities after many years of self-employment in the motor industry, rental car, clothing, exporting industries and the retail sector - seeking out a wide range of businesses which were not performing to their designated, potential capabilities. He bought these businesses and grew them by building their brands and product opportunities to then successfully on-sell.

Through entrepreneurial thinking, he has often identified products and services ‘outside of the square’ of the original business which could be incorporated to maximise efficiencies, widen the income stream, and/or extend that business’s existing capabilities in sales, service, production or distribution. A prime example of this is when head-hunted into Lion Nathan in the mid-1990’s, he had just received samples of his newly designed bottled water push-pull sports cap; and as a result, 8 months later, after designing and developing this revolutionary new bottled water concept, launched H2GO Mineral Water – the first bottled water with the sports cap - a concept that has continued around the world. (Mike has held several roles within Lion Nathan, including General Manager of Lion Nathan Mineral Water).

Mike moved on to become Managing Director for the Asia Pacific / Africa Region for a major Chicago, USA based global company in the plastics beverage caps and bottles industry. He had Regional responsibilities in India, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Pacific Islands, Australia, NZ and the South and North Africa Region. He established a Regional Office in Auckland with sales closures within the Region of just on 1 billion units - and that volume was continuing to grow exponentially. Mike was a key member of the 12 member International Top Team of that company.
