The main difference between freehold and leasehold hotels is about ownership of the actual property. 

• Freehold hotel -  you are buying the property and the land, giving you long-term stability and full control of the business and location. However this type of purchase usually costs more. Buying a freehold hotel has the potential to increase in value of the property as well as the business. 
   
• Leasehold hotel - means you lease the property for a set period, it's usually a longer lease such as 5x5x5 or 10x10x10.
