Starting in 2015, EcoKleenSolar’s goal was to offer a low cost franchise business opportunity for individuals wanting to supplement their current income by operating a business on a part time basis. Back then, the intention was to simply provide a solar panel cleaning service; a far cry from what the business has now become.

Resistance was strong in the early days, with installers and system owners not yet conversant with the need for regular cleaning to maintain optimum panel output. Some installers, short-sightedly, saw us as opposition, rather than the potential to increase revenue from an untapped source.

Persistence was key and, as we started to grow our franchisee numbers, we also expanded our service offering; first with a visual inspection and report, followed shortly after by a thermography inspection and report, as well as very effective pest animal and bird proofing.

Now, with our comprehensive service range, the installation industry, both commercial and residential, started to take notice of our after-market service care business model.

EcoKleenSolar (EKS) is now an Australia-wide franchise network of small business owners, many of whom started out part-time and have grown their businesses in line with our expansion of this very much needed service.

Our franchisees in the field are well-trained in customer service and effective communications with their customers. This lead to many franchisees being asked to do those ‘little extra jobs’ around the property for their clients; gutter cleaning and roof cleaning being most common, but also pressure washing of paths, driveways, etc.

As these requests became more frequent, we set about investigating the best methods for external property cleaning. Traditionally, this cleaning has been undertaken using high pressure blasting equipment. However, with customer feedback and some painstaking research, we concluded that high pressure cleaning equipment can be problematic, especially when used by an inexperienced operator. An alternative to high pressure cleaning needed to be found.

So, driven by demand, we searched, identified and have now introduced SoftWash Cleaning; the gentle, low-impact alternative to high pressure cleaning that’s suitable for all external hard surfaces, such as roofs, walls, paths, driveways and other high-traffic areas.

The EcoKleen Roof & Exterior (EKR&E) franchise business, inclusive of a fully-equipped mobile service unit, is stand-alone from EKS; although, existing franchisees have enthusiastically jumped on board and added the new concept to their range of services.

There is a lot to know to perform these services safely so our EKR&E Franchise comes with a support system that is second to none.

While some small business owners are quite adept at effective sales and marketing techniques, others are more reliant on assistance in the formative stages of their new business. We offer an ‘Introductory Marketing Campaign’ option, for both the EKS and EKRE businesses, where we will create and manage social media marketing for an agreed term before helping the franchisee transition into controlling that themselves.

Franchisees are now operating in Vic, NSW, Qld, SA, WA and NT, with opportunities available nationwide.
