John Kasapi has been named the 2026 AIBB National Business Broker of the Year, taking out the Australian Institute of Business Brokers’ highest individual honour at this year’s national industry awards.

The 2026 awards recognised some of Australia’s leading business brokers, with Jonathon Parker and Simon Schroder sharing Deal Maker of the Year, Brad Potter receiving Sales Excellence, and Brian Sander taking out Deal of the Year.

The major award winners operate across several Australian states and bring experience from a mix of specialist and general business sales.

Kasapi Wins National Business Broker of the Year

John Kasapi is a familiar name across the Australian business broking industry and has built an impressive career over the last 10 years.

Speaking at the AIBB National Conference in Cairns, Kasapi reflected on how simply his career began. With no established database, he set up an Excel spreadsheet, added one name and started calling. In his first year, he completed only around two deals while continuing to work another job on weekends.

His advice to brokers is equally straightforward:

“Learn the industry you're in, specialise in it, get all your emails and templates set up properly, and start building your database.”

That approach has helped Kasapi build a strong specialist profile and become one of the better-known names in Australian business broking. Along the way, he has also been open about the lessons that come from deals falling over and the importance of learning from experienced mentors.

His 2026 National Business Broker of the Year title is another major milestone in an already impressive career. Kasapi was selected from a strong group of national finalists that included Bradley Potter, Brian Sander, Jennifer Angsiting, Jonathon Parker, Sabrina Xia and Shrey Shah.

Parker and Schroder Share Deal Maker of the Year

The 2026 Deal Maker of the Year Award was jointly awarded to Jonathon Parker and Simon Schroder, recognising the highest number of eligible completed business sales during the qualifying period.

Parker operates from Western Australia through Platinum Business Sales, while Schroder is based in Queensland with Bonza Business & Franchise Sales.

Both brokers recorded 57 settled business sales during the qualifying year, resulting in the shared national award.

For Parker, the result continues a strong run at the AIBB awards. The Western Australian broker was named 2025 National Business Broker of the Year and has previously been recognised across several major award categories.
